The Odd Couple (Female Version) - Cast Descriptions

Main Characters

Olive Madison: 30 to 40s - intelligent, attractive, wisecracking television producer and sports fan who is a complete slob, unconcerned with daily clutter, and a pushover for her ex-husband (equivalent to Oscar Madison).

Florence Unger: 30 to 40s - neat, well-groomed, serious, and obsessively clean/cooking-focused woman who takes herself very seriously and moves in with Olive after her husband separates from her (equivalent to Felix Unger).

Supporting Female Friends (Trivial Pursuit Group)

Sylvie: 30+ friend who is desperately trying to quit smoking by using lollipops and gum.
Mickey: 30+ controlling and sharp police officer.
Renee: 30+ plain-spoken, single friend who dates a doctor.
Vera: 30+ sweet, spacey, and accidentally funny friend who is married to Harry.

Supporting Male Characters (The Costazuela Brothers)

Manolo Costazuela: 30-to-40-year-old handsome, emotional Spanish romantic who lives upstairs (replacing the Pigeon sisters from the original play).
Jesus Costazuela: 30-to-40-year-old romantic younger brother of Manolo.

The Odd Couple (Female Version) Synopsis
Neil Simon's revision of his hugely successful play, The Odd Couple, sees the lead characters transformed into Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Olive and their group of girlfriends are enjoying their weekly Trivial Pursuit night in Olive's messy and ill-equipped apartment. As the game continues, Florence arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide, Olive invites her to move in as her roommate. However, Olive and Florence have VERY different personalities. Where Olive is messy, untidy, and unconcerned about the state of her apartment, Florence is obsessively clean, tidy, and obsessed with hygiene. Olive's easy-going outlook on life soon clashes with Florence's highly strung neurotic tendencies, testing their friendship to the limit. When Olive organizes a double date with the Costazuela brothers, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

Rehearsal Schedule:
Begins Tuesday November 17 - 7:00-9:00 pm
Sundays 1:00-4:00 pm, Tuesdays 7:00-9:30 pm. Thursdays 7:00-9:30 pm
Sunday, November 19 through to Thursday, February 25
No rehearsals: from Tuesday, December 22 to Thursday,
December 31; and Sunday, February 14
(Not all performers will be required at all rehearsals)
Note: Tuesday, March 2 through Thursday, March 4
will be technical rehearsals in the theatre - all actors will be required to attend.

No appointments are necessary: first come first served
Please bring a resume to auditions
Auditions will be a cold read from the script (scenes provided in the waiting room)
This is a non-Equity production.
