“Living Together”, companion piece to Table Manners, set for November 2010
“Living Together” is from The Norman Conquests, a three play set from British playwright Alan Ayckbourn. Just as with the other shows, Table Manners and Round and Round the Garden, the play takes place over one weekend at an English country house.
Each of the three plays takes place simultaneously in time in different places in the home. Norman has come to take Annie away for a romantic weekend. Sarah comes to help out with “mum” and give Annie a break but finds out about the tryst and calls Ruth.
Things go hilariously downhill from there.
Theatre West Van’s production of Round and Round the Garden in 2001 won the North Shore Zone Festival. It won the same award in 2009 with Table Manners.
Alison Jopson, director of Table Manners, plans on using the same cast for November 2010’s production of Living Together. So get ready for another visit with Sarah Arnold as Annie (Best Actress at Theatre BC’s Mainstage Festival in the role), Roslyn Winther as Sarah, Thomas Saunders as Tom, Simon Drake as Reg, Heather Evens as Ruth and Kevin Scott as Norman (Best Actor in the North Shore Festival and Honourable Mention at Mainstage).
This entire cast won Best Ensemble at Theatre BC’s annual Mainstage Festival in July 2009.
